Through interactive lectures, engaging activities, games, and hands-on workshops, students will gain valuable experience in each subject. All classes will be hosted online over Zoom and students will receive email with all class information around half a week before the start date. Questions may be directed to verntutoring@gmail.com.

Grade Level: 6th to 8th

Ready to unlock the patterns that shape our world? In Introduction to Geometry, students explore the fundamentals behind shapes, space, and design. This course teaches how to think logically, visually, and cohesively, and will connect geometry to the real world in a series of challenges. With a focus on in-depth explanations and clear reasoning, this course helps students build a foundation in math that goes far beyond formulas. By the end, students will see the world through the lens of lines, angles, and possibilities.

Introduction to Journalism

Instructor: Rebecca Rong

Grade Level: 5th to 8th

Skip into the fast-paced world of storytelling and discover the power of your own voice! In this Introduction to Journalism course, students will learn how to observe, research, and communicate both clearly and persuasively. This course builds strong foundation in reporting, summarizing, and writing ethically. Students will learn what it means to share stories that matter and will gain the skills to present them to a broader audience. By the end of the course, they'll be ready to cover some of today's most pressing issues with curiosity, integrity, and thoughtfulness.

English Language Arts

Schedule: June 23 - June 27 (Session 1) & August 4 - August 8 (Session 2)

Time: Every day from 1 PM - 4 PM CST

Grade Level: 5th to 8th

Dive into the world of literature and unlock your full potential as a reader and writer! In this English course, students will have the opportunity to improve their comprehensive skills and discover how to break down different texts, explore deeper meanings, and express their thoughts. They will develop a strong foundation in understanding literary elements like characterization, theme, and symbolism, while simultaneously developing their writing abilities. By the end of the course, students will be empowered to approach literature in a way that enhances both their academic and personal growth.

Beginner French

Time: Every day from 4 PM - 7 PM CST

Grade Level: 1st to 6th

In Beginner French, students are invited to speak, read, and understand French through everday conversations and interactive practice. Students will build a solid foundation in the language through basic grammar and conversational phrases before learning about food, travel, and more! Along the way, students are encouraged to explore the ways language can help connect diverse populations around the world, and how language learning allows students to express themselves in a whole new way. This course helps students take their first steps toward fluency.

Entrepreneurship

Instructor: Faith Bryant

Schedule: July 14 - July 18

Time: Every day from 11 AM - 2 PM CST

Grade Level: Any

This hands-on entrepreneurship class introduces students to the fundamentals of launching and managing a business. Throughout the course, students will explore key topics such as idea generation, market research, branding, business models, and pitching strategies. The course will culminate in an exciting Shark Tank-style final presentation, where students will pitch their ventures to a panel of judges for feedback and potential mock investment. Whether you're dreaming of starting your own company or just want to learn how businesses are built, this class offers a dynamic and creative environment to turn ideas into action.

Introduction to Python

Time: Every day from 10 AM - 1 PM CST

Grade Level: Any

Curious young thinkers, get ready to level up your tech skills! In this beginner-friendly Python camp, students from all grade levels will learn how to turn their ideas into simple code. Through hands-on projects and fun challenges, campers will discover how to make their own games, animations, and interactive stories — all while picking up the basics of logic and problem-solving. By the end of the week, they'll understand key programming concepts like loops, variables, and conditionals, and feel confident creating their own mini programs from scratch. No prior experience needed — just bring your imagination and a love of learning. Watch your child transform from a curious user into a creative coder!

Baking Our Way Through Science

Instructors: Saisha Verma and Nusrat Hussain

Schedule: July 21 - July 25

Time: Every day from 3 PM - 6 PM CST

Grade Level: 3rd to 6th

Calling all 3rd to 6th-grade scientists who enjoy a scrumptious baked treat! Kitchen connoisseurs Saisha and Nusrat will lead the class through a deep dive into how their favorite desserts are really created (think muffins, cookies, cakes galore!) through engaging lectures and experiments. By the end of the week, students will demystify the scientific purpose of essential baking ingredients and the chemical reactions going on behind the scenes, while applying this knowledge in crafting their own recipes. This camp allows students to watch their scientific ideas manifest into tasty rewards waiting behind the oven as they get dirty in the kitchen. Parental supervision is recommended for younger children. Watch your kitchen transform into a lab with this interactive camp!

Introduction to Finance

Grade Level: 6th to 8th

As the world changes, one thing remains powerful: money! In Introduction to Finance, students learn the fundamentals behind investing, budgeting, and decision-making. Students will develop a solid understanding of stocks, interest rates, and basic economic concepts, serving as an important starting point for everyday life and future careers. Following this course, students will have the ability to make wise financial decisions and the confidence that they can help to manage money well.

Math Maniacs

Math Maniacs: Mastering Math the Fun Way! is a one-week enrichment class designed for students in Grades 5–6 who enjoy creative problem solving and want to explore math beyond the classroom. The course introduces fun and effective math tricks, clever strategies, and logical thinking techniques that are especially helpful for math competitions like the AMC 8. With a focus on making math engaging and approachable, Math Maniacs helps build confidence and curiosity in young mathematicians.
